The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Library is now offering Short-Term Fellowships to further research using the holdings of Special Collections and University Archives. Special Collections at the Richard J. Daley Library houses manuscripts, rare books, photographs, and artifacts on the social, political, and cultural history of Chicago. The Library of the Health Sciences-Chicago Special Collections documents the city’s rich history as a center for the education and practice of the medical arts. Premier collections include the papers of Richard J. Daley, the Chicago Urban League, the Century of Progress, exemplars of 21st century design, the Chicago settlement house movement, and the Chicago Board of Trade. ATAP Delivers 2016 Report to ASTR Members

The following report was delivered by ATAP co-chair Eric Colleary to the membership of the American Society for Theatre Research at its annual meeting in Minneapolis on November 5, 2016: The American Theatre Archive Project is a collaboration of archivists, librarians, scholars, dramaturgs, and theatre enthusiasts dedicated to helping theatre artists develop and sustain their own archives. The Project is organized by a six-member steering committee who support the efforts of regional teams who work with theatre companies in their local areas. Since its founding in 2009 ATAP has assisted dozens of companies including Atlantic Theater Company (NYC), the Baltimore Theatre Project, New York Theatre Workshop, the Rude Mechs (Austin), and Seattle Shakespeare Company. 2016 has been a busy year for ATAP. The New York Public Library is pleased to offer Short-Term Research Fellowships to support scholars from outside the New York metropolitan area engaged in graduate-level, post-doctoral, and independent research. Individuals needing to conduct on-site research in the Library’s special collections to support projects in the humanities, business and the arts are welcome to apply. Preference is given to scholars whose work is based on materials in the NYPL research collections, especially when those materials are unique.
