As a theatre artist, can ATAP help me organize my personal papers?
ATAP’s Archiving Manual provides basic information regarding issues to consider and steps to be taken to organize theatre company records, but it is also helpful to theatre artists organizing their personal records. Dance/USA’s Artist’s Legacy Toolkit is another resource for individual artists. ATAP’s Consulting Archivists can be contacted for email or telephone consultation.
Does ATAP collect and maintain theatre archives?
ATAP assists theatre companies in organizing and maintaining their current and archival records, but ATAP does not serve as an archival repository.
Can ATAP help me find archival material relating to my theatre research?
ATAP doesn’t provide research assistance, but your local public, college, or university library will likely be able to assist you in identifying useful local and online resources to help you in your research. One such resource, ArchiveGrid, is a free online keyword searchable database containing descriptions of and links to manuscript collections and archival records held by thousands of repositories in the United States and abroad.
Can ATAP help me place my collection of theatre performance programs in a library?
The Theatre Library Association maintains a list of performing arts libraries, archives, and museums as well as a list of repositories that collect Playbills and other performance programs. In addition, your local public library or historical society may be interested in acquiring programs that document local performances.
